Sand

I have been searching everywhere, trying to find southdown sand, no luck. I found at Lowes a play sand by Quickcrete and would like to know if it is OK to use if not any sujestions. Nee enough sand for my 125gal.

I used the stuff from Lowes in my 55. I have not had any problems yet with it....only been in my tank for a few weeks. Its really white!! I have the medium size stuff and its sugar grain in size. just my .02

do you have to rinse the sand with water before putting them into the tank?

I made the mistake and didn't. I would do it if I were you. After you rinse it, just use a cup and place it in the water all the way to the bottom of your tank then dump it out. I left all my animals(corals too) in my tank and I had no problems!!! I think I might have gotten lucky!!

Southdown in my local area HD only comes in at springtime. Perhaps in about three weeks they will have it.
