Sandman Filters?

I've been using a Sandman filter for the better part of a year now and was wondering what people thought of these. Has anyone used one? I've just changed my tank to LR from an UGF, much nicer to look at. I have a 50 gal with about 50# of LR. All my parameters are good except nitrates are high at about 50. Could this filter cause problems like Nitrate's being high. Thanks for any help.

Hi King,
I have one of the Sandman Filters. I use it on my hospital tank, and it works great for that purpose. I don't think I'd use it on my "show tanks". I like the ease of adding or removing carbon from the filter. It makes it a lot easier to medicate my tank.
