Sandsifter Starfish DEAD?

I know dumb question, but I think my starfish is dead. I want to make sure he is not doing something I should know about.
How can you be sure it is dead? I left it in the tank for now. Yesterday when I got up it was upside down on the sand. I flipped it over, when I came home last night it was in the same spot. This morning when I got up again it was upside down. I flipped him back over and moved him to the center of the tank.
I don't want to remove it unless I am postive.
The coloring or the texture has not changed. Help.

Hi Shel, try getting up in the middle of the night and spy on him. A couple times I found mine on his back in the morning. Turns out that at night he climbs on the glass. It's possible that he just fell off the glass onto his back. Whenever I stick my hand in there to flip him over, he stays still for a long time after that. Hope that helps you. Good luck!! COOP.

Believe it or not, they're real hardy. Mine survived a move twice!! It disappeared for a while, then emerged big and fat. There goes my live sand bed!!

Please update us when you find out. I was about to pull my blue starfish out because I thought he was dead. He hadn't moved in days and was shriveling up. This morning he had moved onto one of the rocks. So happy I didn't introduce him to the tidy bowl man!!!
