What do sandsifters eat?

They eat all of the beneficial stuff in your sandbed and then starve to death.

Pretty much right on the money! yep they will eat your infauna, pods and all. I'll never own one. Might be ok if you have fine crushed coral though.

They do eat microfana from the sand and will deplete a small tank for sure but in a proper larger healthy system then there fine. I have had mine for nearly 5 years.

So if I put one in a 30gal would there be problems? I have 40 lbs of black sand and it is getting dirty. I need something to help out!

it'll be toast for sure... go for a conch . or hermits.
