These pics are of an asylum that has condemned for quite some time, and is noe being renovated into commercial and residential space.
I snapped a few pics before they finished. Just thought I would share . . .

This is one of four main buildings. It at one time was the largest Sanitarium in the state.

Its actually up in Traverse City off Highway 31, but there are two more down state here that look, or at least used to look, very similar. Theres the one on 7 mile and Haggerty, the Northville Hospital, There was also the Northville Tunnels, part of the hospital that had never been publicized as part of the hospital that was basically in ruins until they tore it down. Then there was Eloise. They tore it down many many years ago, but a few buildings still remain. You would have to know what they were though to recognize them because they are no longer marked.

Yeah, I think the first one is my favorite as well.
I thought that these would look much better in B/W than full color. Gives them an older feel.
Ansel Adams is my favorite artist/photographer. I love B/W work.

I thought alot of Eloise was still standing? I've heard of alot of people go ..um.. "exploring" in it.
Check out the old train station in southwest detroit it has alot of cool photo potential before they renovate it.

Its like just south of mexican town by the river. If you're heading North on I-75 as you go over the rouge bridge you can kind of see it. Its an incredibly cool building, a few years ago when there were more "good" raves around... alot of them were there. I have some cool pics of it if I can find them.
The city of detroit is planning on renovating it and turning it into the new headquarters? of the police department. Suppose the Young Brothers Inc. won't be taking over the sw again!
