The price of crude hit a low of $45/barrel at the end of 2008, which is why the price of gas was so low. At the beginning of 2009, the recession started to hit, which slowed demand, which in turn increased the cost for a barrel of oil. Hence why the price of gas started climbing back up. So in reality, it was Bush's fault because he was the idiot that drove us into the recession in the first place! BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Here's a nice lesson into why gas prices go up and down:

So "At the beginning of 2009, the recession started to hit, which slowed demand which in turn increased the cost for a barrel of oil"
Right here folks is the type of "logic" that led to 0bama being the Democrat nominee for president. People who don't understand the basic concept of supply and demand thought it made sense to choose a nominee who had no legislative achievements nor had ever ran anything over all those other Democrats who at least had a clue.
His own link even states "Like most of the things you buy,
oil prices are affected by supply and
demand. More demand, like the summer driving season, drives higher prices"
Oh, and who controlled both houses of congress leading into the recession? Bush might have been driving but Reid put the gas in the tank and Pelosi was navigating. Either one of them were in a position to force a change of direction if it were so obvious we were heading the wrong way.
