Drum rolllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll,.pdpdpdpdpdpdpdpdpdp

here are the supermans(no, i really mean spidermans, calm down)...and the sapphires...however the sapphires havent actually opened...or i hope these arent it...we would have been sorely mistaken as to them being blue...but there are some polyps not open yet.
sorry about the bad pictures, I'll get better ones later on.

When I first got my blue spidermans I was shocked about how very small they are. My little colony of about 30 wasn't very large. So your picture with the small shell as a comparison is really great!
Enjoy! They will grow and spread but they will always be small.

Find a very tiny straw, something like one that comes with WD40 cans. Unused of coarse.
If you can get hold of one you can place the zoanthid onto a clean paper towel. Make sure it is white and free of dyes and perfumes.
Next slightly pat dry the mouth area of the zoanthid being careful not to wipe too hard or you could inadvertantly damage the layer of tissue on the disc. TO dry the mouth area you will have to stimulate the zoanthid to open. This can be preformed by tickeling the bottom of its base with a small feather.
Once the mouth is exposed and you have gently wiped place the straw down into the mouth and give 3 gentle blows while having your partner massage at the base approx. .3 mm below the tenticles 4 times. Preform this until either you both relize there is nothing going to become of these actions, or you think you have killed the zoanthid.

I tell you I am amazed at how fast zoanthids open after I frag the crap out of them and dip them in straight Kent's Iodine. I have done this to zoas that are not opening also with good results. Maybe try it. I think the Kent's, and I am sure many others, though this is the only Iodine I have ever used so I cannot really comment on any other brands, is formulated to cling to the flesh of the zoanthid which can create a protective layer with healing properties.
If it looks like they are not going to open, you may want to try this. And keep them in low light, medium flow in the mean time. I am no zoa expert by any means, but this has worked on mine when I was having trouble with them. Not every time, but more times than I can count whereas the times it has not helped I can safely count one one hand.
