one of my larger scarlets has been in the corner for 3 days it buried its self atleast almost all of itself. anyways today i thought it might be dead so i picked it up. but it was alive, so i set him back down about 9 inches from where he was. when i came back about 5 mins later he was back in the corner and had buried himself again?

probably not...all crustacians, crabs included of course, have an exoskelton on the outside of thier bodies...in order to grow, they must shed it from time to time...sometimes they will find a safe place to do this or bury themselves...you may end up finding an empty husk at some point thinking it died, but it probably only shed & most likely will hide out for at least a few days or so unstil it's exoskeleton has hardened again...it would be best if you have small hermit crabs, to provide them w/ relative size empty shells to chose from & to grow in...you can purchase them cheaply from here w/ the UBUILDIT package...
