I'm new, so is my scooter blenny. What does the little guy eat? I have a reef tank that has cycled. He's doing great but, what does he eat? I have two damsels that consume all the flake food. I've never seen him eat any. Will he eat blanched lettuce?
Thanks
I have live rock & live sand. What fish like blanched lettuce? I read that somewhere.
Looks like I better get some brine shrimp for scooter.
Thanks

Do you have live rock,or live sand? If not you should get some. They eat the copapods that live in live sand and live rock. After a while you might get it to eat some brine shrimp. They usually dont do good unless they are in a aged tank with a vast amount of copapods for them to browse on.Good luck

Sorry to chime in but - what's a copapod and how do you know you have them? My blenny ignores the shrimp and I would love to keep him around a while.

i think you may have a little problem. i dont think your scooter blennie will eat any flake food. also a scooter blennie isnt a blennie at all. actually its a dragonette. this means difficult to feed. and often dragonettes slowly starve to death, though scooters are easier to feed than the mandarin. as stated before they eat copepods. they are small white things that are sometimes referred to as water fleas. they live in live rock and live sand. and you can see them on your glass and stuff. and if you dont know what they are then you probably dont have them. the best chance you have is to try to feed some live or maybe frozen brine or something like that, but the problem with that is your damsels will get most of if not all of that food. maybe next time you should do a little research BEFORE you buy your next fish. but if i were you for now i would put some food on one side to distract the damsels and then squirt some through a turkey baster right near the blennie and hope for the best. good luck.

I feed my red scooter by squirting some live brine in front of him. My tank is matured though and he also gets plenty of food from the LR. I do enjoy feeding him though.

OK...OK... but the problem is that brine shrimp is hardly nutricious at all! Therefore, we go back to the importance of having a lot of LR to sustain them!
