scrubber questions

hi,
i started a scrubber about 4 months ago, and i dont think its going too well. the only thing growing on it is green slime algae and this really stringy red stuff. could anyone help? i want to know how to make it so it works

a picture of your set up would help along with a description. just saying its not working doesnt give anyone much to go by.
