Scrubbing Algae

So, I just finished removing and scrubbing off the live rock because of the nuisance algae. However, I couldn't take every single piece out so some algae was left on the bottom few pieces. Did I just waste my time? I think it was new tank syndrome that caused it. My protein skimmer wasn't working properly until now. I have no phosphates and my ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates read 0. Will it all come back because of the little I left or will it start going away because the protein skimmer is working full swing now? (I am working on doing the whole above tank refugium as well). Thanks.

Tank is 175 gallons, finished its cycle around July 25th. I have two firefish, one tiny jawfish and a lawnmower blenny. Also, small patch of zoos.
About 30 snails and 20 zebra hermits. (the lmb and the snails only went in recently, so maybe I'm not giving them a chance :thinking: )
