Sea Cloan 100 Protein Skimmer ???

I just bought a Sea Cloan 100 Protein Skimmer and I am wondering if there is suppose to be water in the top chamber that houses the foam/bubbles? Also how often will there be accumilation of foam in the top chamber and how far am I to open the air hose to allow air to enter the powerhead intake? I had adjusted it on Thursday evening and there was about a 1/2 cup of water inside the top chamber that was blackish brownish green and I dumpped it out and adjusted the intake and now I think I messed it up!!!!!

do you have the air hose in the inlet for the pump?

Yes it is in the inlet of the pump like the directions say. A yes the picture helps but that still did not answer my question. Does it fill with muck quickly or no?

Depends on how dirty water is.

If it is filling with any color at all that is good it meens its cleaning your tank. If it was filling with clear water that would meen somthing is wrong. You want the muck out of the tank that is what the skimmer is for.

I have a seaclone 150 just a tad bigger than the 100 and I just took a picture. I emptyed the cup last night and it is overflowing this morning. This is not always the case with mine sometimes it will take 3 days before I half to empty it. I hope this helps, this is what I get out of mine. Also when I first got my seaclone I left the air valve one

from full open for a day and slowly closed the valve about 1/2 turn every hour until I could see progress. I also repeat it every time I clean the skimmer about every 3 months.

Any one had To get a Replacement pump for this skimmer ? mine seems to be on the way out. If someone knows of a compatible pump ?

This is what you need to fix yours Maxi-Jet Power Head 1200 I used to work at the company whom makes this product and Instant Ocean its called Aquarium Systems in Mentor, Ohio. Hope this helps!!!!!

yea ive been having problems with mine too i havent seen any foam but i have seen a redish brown type of water in the collection cup but no foam
