Has anybody had experience with sea slugs. How long do they live? What do they eat? Do they need to be fed special foods are should they just be alowed to graze on the live rock and glass? Do they release anything when they die like sea cucumbers do? I am very interested in getting a couple for both my 20 gallon and 26 gallon tanks. One tank is seahorse only and the other has a few gobies. The ones i am interested in, are purple with orange tips in certain places.

you know Jake, I have 2 sea slugs in my 55. i did not purchase them. they came as hitchhikers. i also have a yellow cucumber that not long ago split into two. so that being said, i think they are doing well. there is a bit of concern tho, i have one slug that just recently started wondering around the tank and glass. i am hoping he is just exercising and not hunting for that "special" diet. i have been feeding them Formula One Invert frozen cubes, along with my other inverts. the cubes are green in color and break down very nicely when soaked in tank water.
from what i do know about cucumbers, they can poison a tank when killed. make sure they can't get sucked in through the powerhead.
best of luck .... :D
