Sea Swirls

Just wondering what is the best way to prevent back siphoning from a Sea Swirl in case of a power outage. There is no reasonable place to make an air hole. There is a shut off valve on the return line, but that assumes I am here when the power goes out.
If any of you use Sea Swirls, how have you addressed this problem? As usual, any suggestions are appreciated!

I didn't use a hole to stop the siphon, but the Seaswirl mounts high enough compared to my water level, that the siphon breaks after it sends about 3 inches down to my sump. I just make sure the sump is always low enough to handle it.
