sea weed vs laver - same thing?

so i went to the japanese market and got bags of the crushed laver and a bag of unseasoned seaweed - the kind for sushi.
my blue hippo has got ich so i thought i'd feed him some greens in addition to the flakes and the frozen brine.
also got a cleaner shrimp to help.
don't have a qt.
question is - hippo won't eat the laver, and the seaweed floats too much.
are they the same thing?
any thoughts on the laver and the seaweed for the hippo?
search didn't really help.

i have no idea what laver is but as far as the seaweed floating away you can get a clip with a suction cup to stick to the glass at your lfs or some people just use a small piece of rock from there tank and attach the seaweed with a rubberband and just let it sit on the bottom of your tank for a while. hth

as far as the ick check the disease forum. besides what you are feeding now you might want to buy formula two( frozen food ) from your lfs. tangs need alot of algae in there diet. you could soak some in garlic extract, that will help with the ick.

haven't been really aggressive in treating because one day, there is no ick and some days, they are all over the fins....
diet and proper exercise!
