They are absolutely dyed, and the ones listed as white are unhealthy because they're bleached. Come on SWF, be a bit more responsible. I don't care what your wholesalers sell it to you as, you should know better. And btw, there is no such anemone as H. sebae, it's Heteractis crispa.

If the base (pedicle) is colored, the specimen has assuredly been artificially dyed.
Spurn these specimens, the stores and folks who would offer these.
Color is important... Though there naturally tan to light brown (as well as purple, grey, blue...) specimens, there are no naturally-occurring white ones... These have been badly treated somewhere along the line... and must be fed solid foods to make up for the loss of photosynthetic input. The endosymbiotic algae that also are the source of color can be reincorporated in time...

I think it is a vendor thing. They've had a yellow Sabea up until 6 months ago, then they changed the name to magenta.
You've got to remember the people that own this board ARE NOT here to keep everything within perfect conditions and to the book. They are here to run a business, and although many patrons (including myself) do not agree with selling colored, dyed, or bleached anemones, i'm sure some of the people in charge of purchasing these products from vendors are not aware of how they've obtained their unique color.
I personally think they (the people at SWF.com that purchase the products) are not aware that these are unhealthy. Remember, they are running a business, and may not have a BA in biology or may not to totally versed in proper anemone health.

And I completely disagree with you Lex. If I own a business (which I do), it is my responsibility to know the product I am selling to be able to provide the best possible product to my customers. I also think this especially holds true with living animials. You don't need a BA to read any book on nems to know that these are dyed, which should be the minimum SWF should be doing to educate themselves on the variety of LIVING animals they are selling.

I agree with you, but running a business that has so many facets, it seems that they are not as versed in anemone upkeep, especially if they are selling dyed anemones.
You are right, and I agree with you, I was just giving a reason as to why they are selling dyed anemones.
