Seachem Garlic Guard

Anyone use this product? I have begun to soak the food in a little before feeding. Fish seem to enjoy it and I have heard and read that there may be some immune system boost from it.
Your thoughts, comments, concerns?

I've used it. It's more a appetite stimulator than immune system booster. Only fresh garlic is said to boost immune system.

I agree totally with spider. If you believe that garlic is an immune system booster/stimulant then it would be from the allicin that is released when the garlic cells are crushed. Allicin degrades quickly ( minutes ) so any bottled preparation would therefor be virtually devoid of allicin and its immune system boosting potential.
If you want the maximum effect that you seek from garlic it must be freshly squeezed.

I would be inclined to agree but I have experienced the opposite. I had a powder blue tang that would develop ick. If I soaked nori in the seachem product before feedings the ick would go away. As long as I continued doing this the ick would not return. I understand the ick cycle, how it shows up and then seems to go away before coming back even more. This was not what I was experiencing. From what I've read however, long term use of garlic will eventually cause equal or greater problems because it is not a food fish naturally would be eating.
