I was just wondering what some of you think of the Seaclone Protein Skimmer from Aquarium Systems. I am in the market for my first protein skimmer and this one seems to have great value. If you do not reccomend this product, is there anything else available for around the same price?

Hi Spuds, There is alot of debate about the seaclone, we have one and have gotten great results for it, other people on this board have not. I suggest you do a search of the board, you will find a ton of posts on the seaclone. You might find what your looking for through them. Good Luck! Later Lisa :D
P.S We still use our seaclone, and we still get great output...

I am with blueberry on this one.
I have a 29 gallon and the seaclone works great for me.
I did a little research and it seems there is an older and newer version of the seaclone on the market with the new version working much better then the older one.
I have the newer version and as stated before it works great for me.

The Seaclone exp for most hobbyist is so bad, that some hobbyist have actually come up with "modifications" in order to get the thing actually working. These mods are widely known to SeaClone owners, icluding myself, because that's how bad the problem is.
I'd suggest you look elsewhere. You may want to look into the Prizm, which is actually a bit cheaper and has more positive results generally expressed by hobbyists. If you want ot upgrade a bit but still want a skimmer that is not astronomically out of price range, look at the Remora.

Try the Red Sea Prizm instead...about the same price but much newer technology and better quality.

Thanks for all your input on this matter, I am going to look into the Red Sea Prism as it is seems from your information to be a much better product.
