how much water would i need to run a seaclone skimmer in my sump. MY main objective to get a skimmer that will work insideof the sump rather than hang it on the back of the 55

I currently have a seaclone on my 50 gal reef. Started out as a HOB but I liked the skimmer and hated how it looked on the back of my tank so I put in a sump. As for how deep the water needs to be it's simple. The deeper the water the less effective the seaclone skimmer is. You only want the PH of the skimmer 2" to 3" under the water. Any deeper and it really loses effectiveness quickly.

PH is the pump/power head that sits inside your tank. I never knew they ost effectiveness in deeper water. I found a site on the net years ago that showed me how to mod my seaclone. It's worked great ever since.
