if you defuse the flow with a spraybar, it may be ok. i am more worried about mixing horses and pipes. Though they do get along fine, unless you get them from the same source, each species can carry differant pathogins and can make each other sick.

im more concerned about them getting sucked down or against the overflow, more so then the flow coming up..i can adjust the flow coming up to stay high no problem, i had just about filling the tank with gorgonians and maybe a few sponges..it has 100 lbs of LR in it with lts of tall caves and areas for them to tang on...its been going for a year and a half..just getting bored with my fish, its my 3rd tank.,.i had a seahorse a few yrs ago in my community tank for over a year"when i had no idea what was going on" and somehow it lived. i have kept some pretty difficult fish ;) im not worried about any of that stuff. i just dont wnat them getting sucked against the overflow like i said..didnt know if anyone had a drilled tank that they were using?
