I would like to set up a small seperate tank for a couple of seahorses. Is the self contained filtration system in the hood of the Eclipse 6 acceptable/enough???

even though alot will disagree i think small tanks are cool for seahorses so they can be easier to feed. if you have experience taking care of saltwater fish/reefs it shouldnt be to hard for you. you can try putting a sponge filter on the intake and a polyfilter in the filter area. only one should be kept in a tank that size.

Whenever I go to LFS, I see dead seahorses
my experience isn't that great in this hobby, but I am quite sure that I will not be getting Seahorses and Pipefish until I am hundred percent comfortable with reefing.
You also have to provide live brine shrimp which is not always available in some areas.
my 2 cents (US Currency) :D

they can eat ghost shrimp as well and usually those are easier to get that live brine. The only thing bad about feeding is that they are pickers and need a good supply of food and need to be fed often. This is from (what I believe to be true) is that they do not have a stomach but some type of diggestive track so they cant hold food for long, they simply eat, take the nutrients from it and then it passes as waste. So from what I THINK this is the reason they are constantly looking for food.
