Seahorses?

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to eventually get a seahorse. Is that even a good idea w/a 46 gal tank, and what should I avoid putting in there thinking that a seahorse would eventually come to live with us? I am thinking fish-only (with a little live rock, but no corals if I can do that) for my first tank.
Is this a good idea? :notsure:

seahorses are a species only type, you could put pipefish it there with them. mostly because they both are slow eaters.

You can only put a pipefish in if the seahorse is wild caught.
Other than that, they do best in species only tanks. They won't do well with the activity of the other fish and can't compete for food.

They can be kept with small gobies like clowngobies. they can also be kept with non-stinging corals. reasearch is the key. look at seahorse dot org

Read up on them.
They can not handle alot of flow like your fish can, they are slow movers and eaters, so there can not be any competition for food, the seahorse will always loose out. And they need an experienced hobbist. Newbies really should stay away from seahorses and pipefish for a year or two, until they gain a better knowledge of the water parameters and such. Seahorses are very sensitive creatures and need special care.
