Sealing acrylic to glass?

Can one attach acrylic (plexi-glass) to glass? Will silicone work? Any and all suggestions and tips appreciated.

I attached 1/4inc plexiglass to glass with aquarium silicone. I think All Glass made it and I bought it at my LFS. None of the silicones at Home Depot said they were safe for aquariums.
Some people have said that this wont bond well but my sump partitions are strong.

you can do it with aquarium silicone but you can't hold back a large amount of water with it i wouldn't trust the bond!
