They are really cool there, and have a lot of the hard corals, and pretty good prices and diy stuff as well. A lot of experts work there, and it's a BIG fish store. There's another one called "The fish store" (206) 522-5259, and thier on Rosevelt way in seattle. A little store with a LOT of cool stuff, and GREAT prices. They have a lot of the unusual stuff, and rare fish and corals as well as the common ones. The best place I've heard about but haven't been yet is called "Below Sea Level" (206) 545-1910, in seattle. I heard people come all the way from idaho to come there. I really need to go there. Then there's a place called "Saltwater City" (425) 644-7050, and their in Bellevue right next to a exotic dealership with ferrari's and stuff. Thier pretty pricy, but have the hard corals, and like a 1000 gal. reef that has a bench all the way around it, that you can sit and watch. Then another one I haven't been to yet is called "Blue Lagoon" (425) 252-2524. There's lots others, but these are the best in the northwest for sure. Oh, and if you are in seattle, you HAVE TO check out the aquarium. It's like a zoo/ aquarium that's just for viewing. I dono what it's called exactly, but if your coming, I can find out for ya. They have like 3 or so 10,000+ gal reefs~guestimate, with sharks and everything all in one reef, and northwest reefs, and tidepools, and just too amazing, as well as otters, and habitats, and a HUGE salmon tank, with ling cod, and halibut, and stuff, that if you go at feeding time, you can see them eat like sharks. Every time I go to seattle I go. It's like 9$ per person, w/out the cineplex. They also have video's of divers feeding 6 gill sharks off the pier. This by the way is on a pier near pike place market, Hope this helped. ~Ali
I live within a couple of blocks of Blue Sierra and definitely recommend them. I've been shopping there for over a decade. Saltwater City is also very nice, though they're not really in the same location anymore, and I think the "1,000 gallon" reef is gone. (It wasn't that big, but it was the nicest tank I have ever seen.) That exotic dealership with Ferraris and stuff is called Park Place Motors. Saltwater City used to be basically across the street. Now they're on the same side of the street, just a few blocks east. I don't like their current location as much as the old one, but it's still a good store, run by a very knowledgeable guy. I believe he was actually among the first people to captive breed percula clowns. I haven't been to The Fish Store in Seattle, but there used to be a store by the same name in Bellevue that was pretty cool.
I am going to have to differ in my opinion on the Seattle Aquarium. It's pretty small and not very interesting. Hell, Blue Sierra is probably more interesting. I hear that the place to go is the Point Defiance Zoo near Tacoma, but I haven't checked it out yet.
