I've got a 54 gal bow-tank with a 180watt strip light. The light source is about 19 inches above the level of the sand in the tank. How much light should I have if I want to put a yellow sebae in the tank???
I would say much more than you have, either metal halides or a good LED set up would be needed, you could possibly get by with a T5 setup, at least a 4 bulb unit (6 would be better). But you also need to consider other factors, such as: the age of the tank, water flow, and other inhabitants. Maybe others will chime in and give you some more advice.
It does need VERY strong light... this is one of the harder anemones to try to keep....they like porous rocks or sandy/rocky areas to choose from... and as with every anemone it will more to where it wants.. so be ready!
Like Gradymo said a MH would be best or LEDS (I wouldnt spend that kinda money) or possibly a 6 bulb T5 fixture...
Look on CL or if you have a local reef club check to see who is selling what...
