second shrimp dead in two weeks! :(

Ok can anyone help me out here??
I had a decent size (about 2 inches) fire shrimp for a few weeks, he molted once, and then he died about two weeks later in his second molt (I'm guessing).
Then on saturday I bought a small cleaner shrimp to replace him, who was about an inch long. He just died today!
Can anyone tell me what might be causing this?

I went thru about 5 before I ever figured it out. Explain exactly how you are acclimating them.

I leave the bag in the tank till the water is the same temperature, and then I dump out half of their bag's water, and add a litte bit of mine every couple of minutes. After the bag has reached about where it was before I dumped it out the first time, I dump out half again and repeat adding my water. Then I net him out and put him in my tank.
Why would acclimation be a factor- after days, and in my fireshrimp's case, about a month down the road?

I took my water to get tested when the first shrimp died, and they all tested out to be perfect. salinity is fine as well.
I've got a hermit, some snails, two clowns, a xenia, and frogspawn.
and he eats the remains of what my clowns don't eat. their baby's kinda, so i feed them a special frozen shrimp bar...that i tap and then stuff falls off.

I'm sure they're fine, but please, post the numbers.
Also, do you have your own test kits? It gonna get expensive and time-consuming to rely on the LFS to do it for you.

Normally after "days" or "about a month" it's not an issue at that point. But shrimp typically have a zero tolerance for salinity changes. And one thing that I found was that my lfs was running a very low salinity in their tanks, so the transition to my tank was much more tramatic. But yes, they can still die from acclimation errors even days after. The very first one that I was able to keep alive was when I acclimated one for several hours, very slowly, using the drip method or something that is about that slow.

I was told my ammonia was a little high this time. The LFS was fairly busy so i didn't get the exact numbers, I was lucky just to have them help me out. My guess is the ammonia spike was just from the shrimps death.
So I guess I'm going to start with a water change. Then the shrimp will be replaced, in which I'll take your advice, and acclimate him very slowly.
I was considering getting a 6 line wrasse in the future. How big of a shrimp do I need to get so that the wrasse won't attack the him?

Currently I have two sixline's in with one cleaner shimp and one pepermint shrimp. I have never seen any of them mess with each other, but I have a 280 gal tank, not sure what you have and if space makes a difference with these two...

idk if the ammonia was from just one shrimp, but keep the water changes coming, also do u use DI/RO water. Any chemicals u ever introduced to the tank?
I never acclimate my shrimp i just temp them and throw them in and they are always fine, the only time i ever actually acclimate is when i get a order offline and then the inverts have been in the bag for a couple of dayz so the PH is out of wack.
i would guess that u might have copper in ur system.
maybe ur just unlucky and u have some kind of fish or something that could be bothering shrimp, i would go with a cheap pepperment if u could test that out
