Sedona tank stands

Does anyone have any experience with these stands? I'm looking to get one for my new 75 gallon reef. It appears that they have a flat top to them and I was wondering if I would be able to drill into the top inorder to accomodate my reef ready tank.
My LFS does not have a good stock of such stands or else I would get a stand in person. Any help on stands and canopies that I could get online woudl be great. PM's if necessary with links would be greatly appreciated.

I was looking at these as well. I ended up odering and oak set from a guy local but I did fint hte cheapest place on the net. They were around $375 shipped for the 75 gallon stand and canopy.

That looks a lot like what we have. Hubby just drilled the top of it to accommodate the reef ready setup. Not difficult at all. What we also did is take the drawers off and put in magnets to put the fronts of the drawers back.
PS the opening to put a sump in is not huge so take measurements before you buy/build your sump.

Thanks for both replies! I agree about removing the drawers as I need the height for the skimmer. I have done the measurements and my sump will fit in by a few inches. I'm glad to hear that you can drill through the top to accomodate a drilled tank.
They are wonderful looking stands/canopies in my opinion!

Does your lighting fit in the canopy just fine? I have the USA Outer Orbit which sets on 4 legs above the tank. Does the Sedona canopy make provision for that?
Thanks!

I don't use a canopy on our 75 but really like the look of the tank with the lights showing (Coravue Aqualife MH fixture)

I am really hoping that my lighting fits inside the canopy. I currently have the TEK T-5 retrofit kit with 4 bulbs under my canopy of my 55g.
I figure that each bulb needs a footprint of 2.5" inches inside the canopy, so I should have enough room for 2 more bulbs for a total of 6 T-5 bulbs inside the canopy of my new 75 gallon tank.
Can anyone confirm that they have a 6 bulb retro fit kit with individual reflectors inside a canopy this size??

We got our stand from ***** (surprisingly). You may want to visit your local one and see if they have any stands and canopy's there and check the measurements. Otherwise give the manufacturer a call and ask for exact inside dimensions of the canopy.

Well, I got the new Sedona canopy lastnight and my 6 bulbs will infact fit inside. The inside measurement is about 18" wide. That will fit my T-5 kit nicely.
However, there is one very strange feature with these canopies. They do not have a "lid" that is one piece the length of the entire canopy , like pretty much every canopy in the world! It has pretty much two seperate hood-like openings on the top of the canopy. This is a no go for 48" lights that run the length of the top.
Therefore, I'm going to have to do some work on it to make it work for me. I'm going to attach some extra support to the back of the canopy and add some hinges to the back of the top so that it opens normally. It is like this canopy was designed for a regular PC hood to be contained inside, not T-5 or halides etc...
It is kind of a hassle to have to do this, but I think it will be fine when I 'm done.

Is the back of the stand open so that I can put the sump inside the stand before I put the tank on the stand, or is it a solid back to the stand?

Ours is not open. You should be able to pry it open, it's thinner material. It only has the openings for cords.
We had to remove the drawers and even the beam that held the drawers up in order to get our sump in.

Thanks SpiderWoman! I think I'll place the sump inside the stand before I assemble the back. I appreciate your response.
Oh yeah, by the way did you buy the stand already assembled or did you do that yourself?
