Well...my dog is an epileptic (seizures caused by bright lights) except that they usually arent caused by bright lights. Anyway, he has these "episodes" every few monthes where he has seizures. Kinda scary most of the time, but afterwards we drug him up on

[hr]
. He looks kinda funny now, laying motionless on his bed, his eyes all rolled up. Heres a pic. If i made a video of him having one, ud probably get really scared...

My cat has seizures like that. I have never had to medicate him though. They are called grande and petite mal (pronounced like mall) seizures. Common in dogs, but not in cats.

One of my friend's Black Labs would have seisures. :( It was an outside dog, and one summer I was working on my old car there, and he started to seisure. Poor dog LOVED people, and would always want someone there to help him through it. He somehow managed to stand up during his seisure, and started almost running towards us. Well, he didn't have the best control over his body, so he got by us and just kinda kept going, and then ran into my car!
I felt so bad.... I think he was.... 5 then? Had seisures all his life.
My next dog is gonna be a mutt, not an AKC lab. My parent's Yallow Lab had thyroid problems when she was around 6-7 months old. She stopped growing, so we've kinda got a parmanent puppy, but she has to take a Thyro-Tab twice a day. PIC: Sandy Puppy at 5 years, waiting for me to throw her dummy off the dock. :D She's a water rat.

Yea, he sometimes gets up from the seizure and just starts moving around running into things, sprinting into stuff, ripping wires outta the walls...u know how it is. Hes actually not old at all...he started having em at the age of 2 i believe. I always knew he was retarded. Live with him for a month or two and ud know. tsk tsk. love him just the same though.

Lol, hes not a beagle. Hes actually a mutt, but often mistaken as a beagle. He is actually quite a well rounded dog, great phsyique and toning and can jump like he was born and raised a frog. Heres a different pic of him...thats "his" chair, which he has to "share" with my dad, lol

We have 6 JRT's and 4 of them have Seizures, (our vet said JRT are prone to them) we don't give them medicine for them though. When one of ours have them, we usually get a soft pillow and lay them on it, take a wet cool wash cloth and wipe under there arms and stomache, anywhere that tends to hold the heat. We don't let them run around. We have noticed that change in temp. brings them on.
It is a very painful thing for these little guys, and I think it hurts me almost as much to see it. When they are done having them, (they sometimes last hours) they sleep for a while then they are back to thier playful loving self. Lisa

I also have a dog that has had seisures since getting him as a 9 week old pup...AKC lab that is nearly all white. We've never really associated any particular thing to triggering his seisures...and they seldom last longer than 15-20 minutes max. We try to comfort him and massage him to pull him thru...there are medications available to treat the condition but we've never attempted to medicate him. Our vet says the condition is very common and medications seldom work very well to prevent them. Our choclate female always alerts us when he is having one....she absolutely goes nuts barking and raising cain to let us know. He looses muscle control and becomes extremely rigid.....sad to see it happen and it always concerns me. Poor guy always seems very grateful and sad when he comes out of it....but it sure effects me and the wife ... just a painful experience for all of us.

Hes done with the seizures. Most of the time he comes out of em fine, and we give him some

[hr]
. But sometimes his brain gets totally fried and goes into "puppy mode" for like a week, where he like starts learning his motor skills all over again, his name and where his food is, forgets all the rules, one time he even started chewing watever was in his sight (even fingers) and hard chewing, not soft. Hes my retarded dog, and i love him :D
