whipple.. that sucks.. Im sorry to hear it.. but Im not very suprised.. but.. think about it. we all expect a company to design a part to run 24/7 with no error... and we want to pay less than $25 for it..my customers pay over $4million a tool and we wont give them a 24/7 contract.. so Im not suprised it failed so soon. especially with so many "cheap" mechanical parts..
yeah.. I think putting a rock infront of your PH is a good idea.. IMO you should have 3 pumps..
1st a circulation pump. from your sump to the tank
2nd a "gas pump" from the tank to the top of the water allowing for gas exchange..
3rd a circulation PH.. usually opposing the first 2 pumps allowing different water circulation. I would put this PH in the middle of a mound of rock.. then just let it flow wherever it wants to.. this way you can let your inhabitants decide where they want to be..
but on a side note.. I have seen a tank setup.. in the corpus christi aquarium.. (huge place) that used a large plank to stimulate lunar pull.. it simulted actual tides and was awesome to watch.. but it had about a 6" rip tide.. so it would be difficult to do.. but it looked amazing.
