Hello, i have to get rid of my prize show tank.Unfortunately my black patch trigger and green carpet anemone must be given away.
this tank would include an all glass model 4 sump filter, cpr dual hose overflow, coralife metal halide x3 32" flourescent x4 and lunars built in one (1500$ new for just light), tank stand (very expensive look them up), and all necescary pumps, koralia 4,numerous power strips and heaters and extra tom aqua lifter pumps.
My question is what is a fair price to sell this setup for?
thank you

You can sell it to me for 500 bucks, just kidding. I would imagine you would be lucky to get 2,000 out of it and you may do better selling as parts. I would sell the light, overflow, sump, and pumps and heaters, separate and sell the tank and stand for 500 to 650. I would sell the light for 450, overflow for 90, sump for 150, pumps and heaters about 20 bucks a piece. But that is the market where I live, I don't know where you live, it may be different.

You'll be lucky if you get $1000-2000 and that's if you really want to sit on it and depends on where you live. Most people won't buy complete tank setups that are used.
You'll make far more money and sell quicker if you list on local reef clubs as a part out.

Most people will not understand or know the value of your aquarium and equipment. Realistically if you can get half of what you spent out of your aquarium you've done pretty good. You can try your luck at craigslist, but you'll most likely only have a few calls with people trying to low ball you. If your not in a hurry, consider consigning it at your best local fish store. If you go the consignment route, make sure you clean everything up, everyone wants something new, so make it look as new as possible. The fish store will have incentive in selling your tank, since they will make pure profit from the sell, and your aquarium will be seen in person by people who are already hooked in the hobby. GL
