Seriously, enough with these filter socks!

I keep reading where filter socks, or sock filters, whatever it is, should be cleaned once a week, or at the very least once every two weeks. But mine clog up and overflow every 3 days. It's a major pain to get the back one off. I don't have a major bio load and there's almost nothing in them when I remove them other than brownish gray sludge, and very little at that. I tried punching some holes in them but that didn't help.

I know there's really nothing I can do other than replace and clean them every 3 days. Just felt like venting.

Are you using felt socks? It didn't take me long to get my fill of those, either. I switched to mesh socks, and can go longer between cleanings. They won't trap the tiniest of particles, but they don't clog up as quickly either. My Dobermans love those felt socks. They make a great tug-of-war toy! LOL!!!

Yeah, they came with the sump, along with a matching pair of spats ;-) I then foolishly purchased another two. I will look into the nylon socks. Thanks for confirming what I already knew. I'm a moron. Cheers!

No, not a moron. If you're like me, you just need a little "boost" every now and then! LOL!!!

I got that too. I'm nuts about water clarity. Oh, and my "boosting" days are over. Can't handle the flashbacks. :-O

I like my felt socks. They aren't hardto take off of my system. Hate your having problems. The nylon mesh ones don't clog as easy but I feel like those also don't trap as much.

Anyway, I'm glad to see you have found a solution!
