serpant star vs goby

Will a serpant star eat my mandrian goby?
The goby swam by and star was trying to wrap his arms around him.

Is your star a "serpant" or is it a green brittle star? This sounds lke the behaviour of a green brittle. I've had them arch their legs and drop over unsuspecting fish. If it isn't a green brittle than i would say that you are pretty safe. I personaly don't know of any other starfish of that general shape(brittle/serpant) that would attack fish. HTH

A friend with a 100 gal tank watched one of her serpant stars grab a seahorse and try to drag him under a rock. She had found the body of a dead perc being eaten by her serpant ealier but wasn't sure if he attacked the fish or not. Apparently some serpant stars can become predators.
