I am going to be setting up a 150 or larger aggresive tank. Some of my questions are:
can i use a cansiter filter for this tank? or a wetdry? which do you think would be better.
Would I NEED live sand for this tank? or could i just put aragonite in?
Thanks.

I would say you need both minimum. YOu also need to run a good skimmer.
I prefer refugiums to wet/drys. I had a wet/dry on my first 75. It was ok, but it got really dirty.
The refugium is much easier to clean, holds more water, and has more use IMO.
I would use live sand as well as ample amounts of LR for biological filtration.

This tank I am doing now is my first time with a Refugium and so far I like it very much, however I was very satisfied with my archaic wet/dry I had previously. In a FO system it works quite well and the plumbing on it is very simple. The disadvantage is the possible nitrates that build up on the bioballs....I have to say, had Campbell not talked me out of it I would have done a wet/dry on this one too....I think any tank you do a good protein skimmer is a must.

on my 265 I am going with a FUGE also plus prefilter pads for my Aggressive FLOWR tank getting tired of the non stop cartaige changes here.
