I am looking at a 240 gal.96x24x25. Will that be big enough for a shark or 2. I got a price on a glass tank. but I think I may want to go acrylic. I have a pool table in the same room. Luckly the tank will not be set up on the ball breaking side:D . Should I look for a drilled one? I want to get a DSB going in this tank. I was looking at maybe an overflow to a sump and a good skimmer and UV. Please give me some Ideas. Or help stear me in the correct path. Thanks
I would like to have 2 leopard sharks. I know I will not be able to keep them for their full life span. How long would they take to grow out of this tank from the size of a baby?
I would also like to have a ray of some sort. Anyone have any Ideas of some good fish that won't be a snack for my sharks.
Thanks

definetely go to acrylic if your getting a 240. thats a big tank. two leopards and maybe a bluespotted ray would be ok for about 8 months to a year IMO. if your getting that big of a tank do the biggest protein skimmer you can afford with a good wet/dry. i recommend a biorocker. since your not doing a reef tank then i would do a uv. also i would also do duel overflows.

You mean to tell me that those 2 sharks will out grow the tank in 1 years time. (from a baby).
Maybe I'll look into another type. I like the bamboo. but I hear they are nocturnal(spell) I would like to see my sharks swim around an not sleep during the day.JMO.
The best price I have on a 240 acrylic was $1000/w seamless corners. and 2 overflows. The glass was around $400.
I was going to use the wet dry mostly as a place to put my heaters and skimmer and UV. Do I still need to turn over the water 4x or so like a reef?

I dont know much about sharks, but I all can say is that the uv is a very good idea, and dont get glass because its more cheap, I know of a 300 gallon tank that was glass, and just a little tap broke everything and made it a really bad experience. Go acryllic and dont save the money because with glass youll end up paying more.

I am looking very much into the acrylic. Mostly because it will be near a pool table, and for your same reason. I know someone who makes them anyway.

leopard sharks will be fine in there for a few years....
below are must haves....(do it right the first time)
1) 2 drains---- predrilled is the way to go
2) oversized sump (IMO at least 35-40 gallons)
3) skimmer
4) sand
5) strong return pump

Any recomendations on how much sand.
I would assume that each hole in the tank should be in the back 2 corners.
How about a good skimmer. What brand would get out all the nasty biproductis that the sharks leave in the water. I thought I read a post about a skimmer test a lab ran on 3 well known skimmers and I can't seem to remember what one was the best.
How about this return pump how big?
This is great stuff you guys are giving me. I am truely thankful.:)
splash your tank is what I am looking for is that around the size I am looking at. And those are leopard sharks correct. They look great.:D
