setting up fuge in nanowave

Hey guys. I want to set up the fuge in my new tank. It's the nanowave 9. what should I use for the "base" the fuge mud or just sand? I'm planning on putting live rock and chaeto in. This is my first fuge since this tank is actually set up for one.

Before my nano crashed, I actually just put cheato in the fuge, nothing else. When I set it up again, I'll have live sand and cheato. You can still put in live rock, but it's a really small fuge so idk how much room you're gonna have. Plus, I'm not a big fan of live rock in refuges unless they're HUGE!....just my 2 cents
