Setting Up New Tank

I'll begin setting up my new 46 gal. bowface on Saturday. It will begin as a FOWLF, but I may eventually add corals. A thread on the Fish Photography Board last evening suggested that even with a new tank all equipment should be washed in a solution of white vinegar and water.
What is the consensus? It I should do this, how much vinegar to water? Also, should the tank be washed and what would be the best way to do it?
Thanks.

Personally, I always wash everything because of dust. I've never used vinegar, but don't imagine it would hurt (don't think its necessary either) I wouldn't use more than 10% if that much. Enjoy your new system.

If it is a new tank you don't really need the vinegar, but if it is a used tank that has some mineral deposits on it the vinegar will break down the deposits so that the glass doesn't look cloudy after you put water in it.

all answers are good to be safe yes its a good thing but a good washing will do the same thing on new equipment. some people will suggest the vinager wipe down because they dont know what has been spilt or landed on it from the time it was in the factory till you take it home so its a preventative measure.
