Once a female, always a female.
You should get one of them out. If you want another clown to pair add a smaller one and hope it's still a male.

Your first clown is probably a female if it was by itself for an extended period. A big clown with a small female doesn't work. The smaller clown must be a juvie or male, though there's no way of knowing just by looking.

ok good news after 10 days of fighting th big clown is letting the little one have another anemone. they even swim with each other and shre an anmone sometimes. 2 things ive noticed:
1- the smaller clown used to be a real dark maroon is now much lighter. the bigger clown was dark maroon and stayed dark. does this mean anything??
2- when swimming together the little clown starts to "flutter", like swim in a real jerky side to side way. does this mean anything??

Jazz, that is a good thing. It looks like they are having cunvulsions hu?
I find that funny when my two clowns do it. To awnser your question, I think the "flutter" thing is a way of communication between the two. They are trying to figure out who is who in the tank. Give them some time and the flutter thing will start to slow down but it most likely won't ever quit. I also think that this means that they are healthy and happy......well, healthy anyway until they figure out who momma is.

Good luck! I'm sure they will be just fine.

My little clown does that also... and only my little clown. I have heard that the shaking is some sort of submission thing they do to establish who is dominant in the tank. It took my clowns a long time to pair off but now they are never apart.
