SFE Died !

I'm so upset my sfe just died and I don't know why. I checked my levels every thing is normal.
amm 0
nitrate 20
nitrite 0
salt 1.025
alk 300
ph 8.4
temp 80
all these have stayed the same.
the only thing different the sfe ate one of my sails they were laying next to each other. If anyone have any idea what could have happen please let me know.
ps. its a 55g other tank mates are 2 blue damsels and 1 marroon clown now 4 turbo sails
also is there anything elese I can use to lower my nitrate I can't buy an ro/di right now but will one day

SNOW FLAKE EELS are very hardy and I dont consider your nitrates the culprit by a long shot. Maybe he choked on something, any way your perameters look good, sorry for your loss and YOU WILL notice a very big difference in the future with RO/DI, it is such a must these days..

How long was he in the tank? Was he eating and if so what was his diet?
Oh and your trates are fine for your setup.

what do you feed him? it is possible that something got lodged in his throat and he could not breath.
