Shaking tank

I've got a 36g FOWLR tank set up in the corner of my living room. I'm not worried about structural support, but when I run my washing machine, my whole floor shakes (it's a mobile home). As a result, the tank starts shaking with it, sometimes pretty noticeably.
It's a bowfront, and I'm concerned that the damn stand is just gonna collapse one day.
Should this be a worry of mine??

to support your tank you can use 2x4 wood pieces from your LHS. just place the pieces under the stand. they will reinforce the support. also make sure that your flooring is going to support the weight. i dont think you will have a problem because its a small tank, just be aware that if its placed in a faulty area it could collapse. also if your tank is shaking this can stress your fish. try to place a mat or some kind of thick carpet under the washer. it will help keep down the shaking.

I'll try that with the washer. As I said, I'm not worried about the floor at all -- I'm worried about the stand wiggling and shifting just enough that it can't support the weight of the tank for that split second!

Ok, let me get this straight, when your washing machine runs, it shakes your 36 gallon tank? I forget what water weighs per gallon, but I think it's around 8 lbs per gallon, but I could be off on that. Anyway, your tank at least weighs 288lbs. And your washing machine shakes it? Are you sure you don't live on a fault line? What happens when you use a blender? I'm just kidding with you, but I've been in mobile homes before, and I remember them being a bit more stable than that. Maybe you just need a new washer. On the other hand, have you tried washing clothes right before you go to bed? Bet that would beat those old 50 cent vibrating beds any day.:D

i know the feeling your going through. i lived in a trailer during my childhood and everytime the wash was done the whole place would shake like it was an earthquake. i feel your pain. the only thing i can say is if the stand is that particle board crap then trash it for a better stand made of solid wood then attach it to the wall of your trailer to make it not shake side ways which will stress the joints and cause a premature failure in your stand. beacuse you have to remember water in motion stays in motion. this is called surge and will make alot of stress on one side then the other and keep it up till the water calms down. so you need to do something now
