Shark Disease?
I have a grey smoothhound shark. I have had him for about 1 month now, and just the other day I noticed white spots or bloches taht started to develop by his rear fin. I cannot find out what it is and its very difficult to get a picture he doesn't sit still. Anyone have any thought?
Ich maybe? But i know it doesn't look likje that. Its just on the rear fin/tail area and its blochy white spots.
PS I told my LFShe jumped out of the tank and he said it was a type of fungus and I needed to buy a 52$ bottle of Pelafix ( i believe its called) Want to make sure they are telling the truth and nt selling me just to sell me

If it's not Ich it could possibly be the beginings of fin rot or some other type of fungus . A picture would really help. But blotches sounds like fungus probably brought on by the stress of being in a new home.

Keep trying to get pictures up. Without knowing what the problem is, there is no way to responsibility make a medication recommendation. How long have you had this shark? What kind of tank is he in?

Would pimafix help that?
Primafix is made for treating fungal infections, yes. I don't know what size of bottle your LFS is selling for it to be that much money...I'm sure you could find it alot cheaper elsewere.
But like Beth has mentioned...unless you know for sure what you are dealing with then I wouldn't start treating it yet. I'm just letting you know what it sounds like to me, but without a positive I.D. I wouldn't do anything just yet.
