SHARK EGG

been on a waiting list for long while;finally have opportunity to purchase a banded bamboo cat shark egg; I know purchasing an egg is chancy and even if it hatches, it can be difficult to get it to feed; what care should I give the egg and what possible signs of good health should I look for in the egg before I decide to buy it? also, how durable is the egg in a reef tank? and when it does hatch, how best should I try to get it to eat & what should I try to ween it to?
any and all information/suggestions are welcomed

I don't think he wil ear for the first week or two. You will want to try small pieces of krill of of that sort. also, just place it infront of his mouth. Do not bump him with it. if yo do he will not eat it. this all i've been able to pick up on so far. hope it helps.

Well, when I got my bamboo the only thing I could get it to eat for the first 3 days was live earth worms from my backyard(now it eats any thing). I wrapped a rubber band around the stick a few times then put the worm in it then I wiggled it around in front of its face until it ate it. I was very lucky in getting my bamboo to eat(I got it eating the day I got it) but like jester said it can take up 1 or 2 weeks before they start eating. You'll also want to feed it a variety of seafoods once its eating. I don't know about eggs in a reef, but I think it hatches after a few months. And about purchasing the egg, you'll want to look for signs of life in the egg(movement). Thats about all the help I can give. Good luck!
