Well I'm very excited about getting my new sump!!!! And now i would lik to know, is it possible to keep a ray or small species of shark in my 125gal tank? I got about a little more then 1 1/2 years till i go to college and i would love to keep one of these fish for sometime. I would really love to hatch a shark, would be very fun. But if i can't thats ok. What do you all say?
BTW, once i get my sump/refugium going can i get rid of my emporer or will i still need that for carbon?

a bamboo or a coral cat is possible for a year. when you go to college you better sell it.

I wouldn't bother, there both extremely sensitive to copper so if an ick outbreak occurs forget about it. The tank is to small for an adult shark, and you can't put a whole lot with them. If you really want a ray i'd go with a small freshwater species such as the teacup (yes i know.... ugh... not freshwater) and if you really want a shark I'd go with the brakish water cat shark, they do better in saltwater neways.

even the smallest of sharks require min of 180 gal same as a ray ,btw neither of the get ich.but if your not going to be around for a while it prolly best to wait until you have the time to care for them and have a large enough tank to keep them in.both I will say are very cool to keep but they both require time to care for them JMO as far as fw rays they require alot of room also and are less hardy from what I have read

Well thank you for your opinion everyone. JR2897, theres actully a person i know who I'm going to give my fish to when i go to college, or maybe i should say place? I'm giving them to bass pro shop. Theres a HUGE saltwter aqaurium in there and my dad knows a friend who cleans and does maintence to the tank so i may send my fish to him.

yea, he would be going to a pretty big home. People can watch him swim when they are eating in that restaraunt.

Well it seams to be the moto for about 50% of the fish keepers around here to JUST DO IT. but these are living creatures not NIKE's. Just my opinion cartman but you should really wait untill you have more experiance . Hold off untill after school when you have more skills and your own place and can enjoy them for more then a year . It will be far more rewarding.

if that 125 gallon has nothing in it you can sell it or put some agressive fish in it or give it to me for free

Yea true. Whats a fascinating/awesome looking fish that can live with agressive fish?
