If I had a 55 gallon tank and wanted to get started with some kind of small shark for now but had plans to upgrade to a much larger tank later would it be ok and what kind of shark would you recomend for this? Howfast do most of them grow? If I did it, it would be a year or so before upgrading. Does this even make since or should I just wait until I can do it all at once?
Thanks

Having plans to upgrade is one thing, but actually doing it is another. Lots of the time it just never happens. If you want to get any type of shark buy a big tank with a large footprint to start with so you dont have to upgrade right away. I would never put a shark in a tank that small. Too many times the upgrades just never happen and the species are left in a small stressful environment.

Thanks, What is the minimum size tank you would recomend for any shark? I have done a little research online and not found a tremensous amount of info but what I have found recomends at least 180 gallons. This seems a little small to me so I was budgeting for up to 300 gallons. I have this budgeted to happen by the end of the year but you never know what might happen. could go bigger and sooner than that but then my other hobby would have to all but go away and thats just not happening

I will do what is best and wait...
