Sharp Nosed Puffer

I am considering adding a sharp nosed puffer to my 50g tank. But I have some astrea snails and a couple of sand stars. Does anyone know if the little puffer will try to eat them or will he leave them alone as long as he is well fed?

If the Puffer is well fed and small it will leave the snails alone unless it gets hungry and the snails have the bad luck of being on their backs then it will eat them. I do have smaller puffers in tanks with snails and the losses have been very slight.

small puffers (valentini and sharpnose) are notorious fin-nippers. I hope you have fish in there that can take a little abuse. I would say that with the inverts you have about a 70/30 cjance of them being ok as long as he is small. HTH&Later, Bo

HI, I have a 2 inch valentinie and he pokes around at everything, he loves the stuff that comes out of my red brain, pretty mild little bugger doesnt bother anyone and, loves brine shrimp and red algea sheets, wont touch the green stuff tho none of my fish will eat the green stuff. The neatest thing was the one time he puffed up for no apperant reason , these guys are smooth skinned and he looked like a little balloon fish all he needed was a string...LOL,,,fixit

I have a valentinie in my smaller tank and I once put in two cleaner shrimp and he had killed them both within 20 mins. He is fine with my other fish in the tank.
