Hello,
I was looking into purchasing a Shaving Brush or two and a Maidens Hair Plant but i dosed my tank with copper 17 days ago because of ick. Will these plants survive as i know inverts, coral and Anem's will die.
Thanks, Jay

Plants and algae are indeed not affect by copper, and actually will begin to consume copper. So if the fish are currently under treatment, you'll have to monitor copper levels more frequently.

I'm hoping within the next 4-6months when i become more knowledgeable about the corals and anemones i wil buy some. But i love these plants and didn't want to kill them.
I was treating my foxface about 4 weeks ago but he is fine now.
So the plants are a good idea?

just so you know that by putting copper in your DT you may never be able to keep any inverts in that tank. copper can be absorbed into rocks the sand and silicone on the tank and leach out of these things over time killing any inverts. but if plants aborb copper it may help but that is why its best to do medications in a QT tank.

Yea i learned that after the fact. I now have a QT tank up and running. Anything i can do to get rid of the copper?

there are some products that claim to remove copper and other metels from the water might be worth doing some research on google or search some threads on here.

I found this filter pad online called a polypad it states it removes ammonia nitrates nitrites and copper.
This should be a start.
Do sponges die from Copper?

I know this is late, but this slipped by me. I treated with copper several times in my 125g tank and I now keep all manner of inverts: xenias, kenyas, zoas, anemones, snails, hermits, GSP, horeshoe crabs, etc, etc. I kept the same DSB and filtering systems and LR. I used Amquel+, which states on the bottle it removes copper and I always use carbon in my filters. A half year after the last copper dose, I added hermits and snails without any losses. Since then, I've added TONS of inverts and they are in, on and around every inch of my tank and growing and spreading like weeds-including the snails. An aquarium myth if ever there was one. Plain, black carbon+Amquel+ will clean your tank-it did mine!

This was the answer i was looking for. I started running carbon and picked up a bottle already. Thanks for the help :)
