Shaving Brush Plants

I see them listed on this site and it says they require lighting that reaches the bottom of the tank. Will these grow under NO lighting? Also do they multiply quickly?

Mine grow sprouts up like from the roots forming a new plant but they are under light! The fish and crabs like the new buds that pop up forming the new plant!!

I got rid of mine. They were getting what looked like pine needles all over ny tank..doh!
