I'm originally from cali but being military I'm living in Rhode Island. California is very specific as to what is and is not illegal in that state. Ferrets, Quaker parakeets, Gerbils (the list could go on for days) are all illegal but perfectly legal in other states. Its quite possible no significant research has been done on it by the state and thats the only reason. Although unlikely but if you get some and the state finds out the fine could be huge if it is banned by the state.

I did not think too much of it until I went to my local Fish store and they got a shipment of it in. The kids working there did not even really know what it was.

The chances of anything happening are very slim. The state killed my friends ferret and fined him though. Im very new to the saltwater thing so im not sure if it is or is not banned.
