I just set up my tank 2 days ago. it is a 25gal hex. I only have live rock in it now and i wish to get some shaving brushes. is it ok to put them in the tank now or should i wait. also is it ok to bury them in live sand?

live sand should be ok.
I would establish plant (life like shaving brushes) as the very first thing in a new tank. that way they will take hold with a minimum of interference and rapidly get parameters down to 0.0.
edit: don't bury them completely :D just so the hold fasts (roots) are in the sand

PErsonally I would wait until near the end of you cycle - once your Ammonia and nitrItes come down. Healthier and more realistic environment to what the plant faces in nature.

shaving brush plants don't have a good survival rate in home aquariums just FYI, plus most fish will be quick to thank you for the aptly provided salad bar.

Actually I have about 12 shaving brsuh plants...The things you need are nitrates, sand, and lots of light...LIGHT being the MOST IMPORTANT thing! And I have tangs, angels and damsels in with the shaving brush plants...none of them eat them, they are the one plant that not many fish if any, eat them.

I was deffinatly considering a pack of 5. Do they really lower your nitrates?

Yes, and your phosphates, heavy ions plus buffer ph and consume carbon dioxide also. they are shipped as livesotck here so min order is still $75.00
