shedding leather

I bought a new devils hand leather about a week ago, when I first got it it had a layer of green goo on it which it shed off within 2 days. Looking at it again yesterday and today it looks like it's shedding again is this normal? Is it just getting used to my tank?

a green goo?
is the leather still firm and not showing any signs of rot?
if not then its probably adjusting to the tank and may need some extra flow to completley rid itself of the waxy layer that forms.
