Shells

I want to order some scarlet and red legged hermit crabs and I have read that you need empty shells also for them to move into as they grow. Here on SWF that have shells but list the size as 1/2 inch. Is this sufficient or has anyone ordered them and were they in varying sizes?..........................Thanks.

they are pretty small and alot have holes, some LFS will sell bags full of different sizes.

Well if they didn't have holes how whould the crabs get in?

I bought mine at the lfs, they where only 10 cents apiece and I was able to pick them out indivdually.

10 cents is nice I paid 50 cents each for mine. They are cool looking but still a little big. 2 of my crabs are about big enough to start looking at them, I hope they move in! So far the biggest moved in to a turbo snail shell. The snail fell off the glass and got upside down in the sand and drowned. The crabs and shrimp in the tank said "Thank you sir, may we have another?"
